Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

Program Information

LIHEAP is a Federal program designed to assist with home heating costs. The program provides a once per year heating season payment on behalf of eligible participants.

The 2021-2022 Energy Assistance season is scheduled to begin making appointments in November. Please contact your local SEICAA office between November and March (dependent on funding) to schedule your appointment. If you are a participant in SNAP (Food Stamps), you are presumed eligible for the Energy Assistance program.

Program Guidelines

SNAP (Food Stamps) recipients need the following information to complete their application:

  • Name, Address, Phone Number, Social Security Number, and E-mail Address (if available)
  • Do you rent or own your home?
  • If renting, is your rent subsidized?
  • What type of residence do you live in? (single-family home, mobile home, apartment, etc.)
  • Your electric bill account number (regardless of primary heat source) and your account’s Service Agreement Number (Idaho Power customers only)

If you do NOT receive SNAP (Food Stamps), you will need:

  • Name, Address, Phone Number, Social Security Number, and E-mail Address (if available)
  • Names/Birthdates for all household members
  • Social Security Cards for all household members
  • Heating Energy Vendor Name/Account Number (Utility Bill)
  • Electric Vendor Name/Account Number/ (Utility Bill); Service Agreement Number (Idaho Power customers only)
  • Do you rent or own your home?
  • If renting, is your rent subsidized?
  • What type of residence do you live in? (single-family home, mobile home, apartment, etc.)
  • Verification of Residence Address (Utility Bill)
  • Income verification for the previous month (check stubs, SS/SSI award letters, etc.)
    • If there is no income in your household or you are self-employed, please contact your local SEICAA office.

An application cannot be processed without the information listed above.
