With the holiday season just around the corner, SEICAA’s Socks for Seniors 2019 program is gearing up for what we hope will be our strongest year yet!

SEICAA’s Socks for Seniors Program mission is simple. We strive to fill the void – caused by isolation and loneliness – local seniors experience over the holiday season each year. While partnering with home health agencies helps us assist our aging population live independently, too often do seniors succumb to the negative effects of loneliness. The National Institute on Aging, a division of the U.S. National Institutes of Health, found loneliness leads to a variety of physical and mental conditions, including but not limited to high blood pressure, heart disease, anxiety, and depression. That said, a big smile is a big deal!

Since its inception, the Socks for Seniors program has provided something special, be it a friendly visitor or a brightly colored pair of socks, for over 3,000 seniors in our community. That’s over 3,000 big smiles! And it wouldn’t have been possible without the support SEICAA continues to receive year after year. Of course, the more community support we receive, the more we can do to help our seniors this holiday season.

If you are considering supporting the Socks for Seniors program or know a senior who would benefit from the program, please contact our office by emailing us at socksforseniors@seicaa.org or by calling (208) 232-1114. If you are 55 years old or older and would like to receive a stocking from SEICAA’s Socks for Seniors program, please complete this application and send it to SEICAA’s Senior Services’ office. All applications are due by December 5, 2019.
