Program Information
Our You’ve Been Flocked Flamingo Fundraiser is an annual effort in Blackfoot, Idaho to raise unrestricted funds for our Bingham County office. It challenges community members and businesses to “flock” others’ lawns, storefronts, and/or yards with a flamboyance of plastic flamingos. The month-long effort begins June 2, 2025.
How You’ve Been Flocked Helps
The programs and services our Bingham County office provides, including basic needs, housing, and weatherization assistance, rely on supplemental funding to help as many eligible households as possible. Since its launch in 2021, You’ve Been Flocked specifically supports our office’s unrestricted funds, which assists eligible households with any type of emergency assistance.
Last year, You’ve Been Flocked raised $1,470 – up almost 21% from 2023, increasing the effort’s lifetime earnings to just over $7,800. We helped 35 Households in 2024 with several services, including Education Assistance, Rent Assistance, and Utility Assistance, which contributed to an economic impact of $7,212.39.
Dollars raised by You’ve Been Flocked are fully utilized – and then some. And they afford us the ability to offer programs and services that aren’t available in other counties in our service area. Because of today’s uneven economy, though, less and less funding carries over each year. That said, anything helps.
Program Guidelines
You’ve Been Flocked and the proceeds it generates are exclusive to Bingham County. Beginning in June, our staff will place plastic flamingos and a “You’ve Been Flocked” sign at a specified location named by a community member or business who preordered the flock. Once flocked, the “victim” may donate any amount to our Bingham County office by completing a donation form inside an envelope attached to the sign. If the victim makes a donation, the flock will be moved to a new location of their choosing; if the victim doesn’t make a donation, we’ll remove the flock free of charge in a day or so and move them to a location of our choosing. Victims are encouraged not to damage the flock.
New and continuous supporters alike are invited to play along each year. For more information, contact our Bingham County office at (208) 785-1583.
